All the plugins are loading at the moment and we haven't even started to
try and optimize anything yet.

Yup, it's definitely not thread savvy at the moment. Bob and I have
chatted about it (he's got a cluster at home, and I have a 4-way machine
at my disposal in NYC) but are working on other things at the moment :-)

Rant away, it's the only way this beast is going to get better. We know
that it has slowed down but we will definitely be in a position to start
optimizing soon.
