It would appear to me that the two where clauses are equivalent.  Can
you explain why they are not?  I believe that any combination of and/or
clauses are possible right now.  I would like some proof before adding
the new concept as others have been working to make building complex
queries require less verbose code and this approach seems to require
more.  This is a comment after looking only superficially at your
solution, so do not take it too harshly.  I am more interested in
finding out why you feel the extra connector code is required.
