Oops, haven't been paying attention. Hibernate 2.1 does have query by
criteria!

Except that Torque has compile time checking of your queries because of the
Criteria object. Whereas Hibernate has less powerful query capabilty,
relying on strings for expressing the parts of your restriction clause, i.e.
no compile time checking. But Hibernate seems to beat it in other areas and
has a much more active user and development community. Also Hibernate deals
with many to many relationships, which Torque does not.

It's not a Torque vs Turbine, as Turbine has moved (except for some old API
stuff) to a persistence layer agnostic view.   I would recommend Hibernate,
it's fantastic, and much simpler/powerful to use then Torque.
