+1 on using XML for basis of class maps. It should be VERY easy to write a
simple class that will generate a new schema into an XML format. Then, we
can use the xml.apache.org parser to parse it. ;-)
we can even do cool stuff like output a schema from the XML representation
that allows database specific schema's...

I'm not convinced that it will be that much slower. Also, as Scott Ambler
says...it is worth the speed hit. ;-)
I'm all for *anything* that makes working with RDMS easier and more
intelligent.
