This solution is exactly for cases where both application _want_ to share
common services, session info, etc... :)

For example, in our project we have modular architecture around some
core. The core provides some common things like singeltones, db
connection pool, objects in session, etc.

Yes, you are right, to absolutely isolate them, you can place
in separate zones.
