Thanks! Learning polish is fun, we have 35 different letters
in the alphabet, grammar with declination, conjugation and
only three tenses (in practice you can express most english
tense nuances in polish) and *lots* of special cases ;-)

We are using Sun JRE 1.3.0rc1-b17, Hotspot Server VM. Our memory usage
is under 100MB right now, most of
the memory is used by the kernel as I/O buffers - effectively everything
is served right from the
memory.

We noticed phenomenon of severe slowdown (like 20-fold) occurring from
time to time, earlier during development. Restarting tomcat was solving
this. Another problems was thread buildup - every time a context was
reloaded
Tomcat was spawning 8 new threads (WebMacro resource brokers framework
uses them). After some time, process
limit on the server was reached (we used JVM with native threads, and on
Linux threads occupy an entry
in system process table). It is not a problem on production server,
since no context reloads take place there.

Switching from blackdown to Sun HotSpot Server should give you a good
boost!
