Oh really, how can that be? I thought the problem as you said was simply
that I did not know JavaScript.
Well I guess we don't know everything, do we Mr. "I have done boat loads of
JavaScript".
I would suggest that in the future you restrain yourself of using derogatory
remarks towards other members of the forum as a way of covering up your own
lack of knowledge.

As I indicated, I am not interested on indicating the action as part of the
URL, (I have good reasons for that)
thus your solution:

<form action="...&action=myaction">
</form>

is precisely what i am trying to avoid.

I belive that using the "action" keyword causes conflicts which limit the
ways and Action can be Specified. Remind you that javascrip is a very
popular  scripting lang. I would suggest the  parameter name "action" be
configurable to augment the flexibility of action specifiaction.
