Confluence surely looks nice and it has some nifty features (like the
nice page info display) and seems pretty fast but I haven't found a
must-have feature (related to keeping software documentation) yet that
MoinMoin does not have. But I didn't find any "View page source"
function. Does it have it? I had to look at page diffs to deduct that
pages are in rest format.

What does it say then?

Not to me. Firstly, I don't see a compelling reason to prefer confluence
over MoinMoin (see above). MoinMoin and especially the installation at
doc.turbogears.org have their problems, but most of these could be
solved by a better template and CSS and maybe some MoinMoin plugins.

Secondly, I'm deeply suspicious of putting the documentation of an open
source project into a closed source software. Who is hosting this wiki?
Is the open source project license for confluence guaranteed to be
available for ever? Also for newer versions of the software?

I also don't see much content not related to Pylons on this wiki. If the
maintainers of this wiki want it to be a general place for
Python-related documentation, they should get in contact with the
python.org maintainers and discuss the various implications this has and
try to get some official support from the PSF. Otherwise, it's just
another Python wiki that adds to fragmentation.

Thirdly, the effort to migrate the docs from one wiki to another is not
to be underestimated. We still haven't managed to migrate all
documentation from our Trac wiki to MoinMoin and clean up the Trac wiki
afterwards. Granted, it seems that confluence supports rest, so there
would be no need to reformat pages, but you still have to consider
things like comments, keeping links, attachments and so on. I don't see
that we have the resources to do this properly even if we wanted.

So, if you have TurboGears-related documentation, please put it up on
docs.turbogears.org. If you have problems with the MoinMoin wiki, please
let us know, and we can see what can be done.
