That damn piece of code seems to cause problems all the time, no matter how often we try to fix it. :-( The problem seems to me that there are so many places in the code (general decoding filter, visit, identity, widgets) where the in- and outgoing params are modified, it is hard to wrap your head around it. Might be a candidate for some refactoring or even re-design.
