But it helps. If a tool make your life miserable to do the things right (like amend a patch or have freedom to make all the patches you want without connecting to the server, etc), it's much more harder to have, maybe not great code, but a great development process, which usually impacts in the code one way or other. I wonder why you don't consider git (I guess it's the not-so-good Windows support).
