For sure the template can be simplified a bit... :) I am searching the 
visual effect right now, not code cleanliness...

I don't want to get points or ratings; I would prefer to receive 
suggestions, like which really nice looking template you would prefer or 
what you find hard in the CSS.
I personally find the css easy to read and understand and quite 
maintainable because it really uses cascading.

Anyway when I begin a new application the first thing I do is to remove 
everything from the CSS and templates. So I don't have this issue even 
if I can understand your concern.

That is the point. I want to have a really nice looking quickstarted 
app. Not a semi-well looking page that no one looks at anymore.

I'm thinking about a template with predefined classes and ids where I 
could interchange 2/3 css stylesheets easily to demonstrate how easy it 
is to switch from on design to another, but you need to begin 
somewhere... and I choose to implement this css + template first to get 
things moving.
