I know this has been discussed before but times are now different.

Originally we needed the index because pylons 0.9.7 wasn't released
and most TG dependencies where not on pypi.

Today the story is different as everything is fetchable from pypi, on
top of that the version in the index tend to lack behind as it is only
updated every time a regular TG release happens.

I'm not going to list the devs but it's a big thing. If you want to
see all the mismatches just install TG from the index and then run pip
install -U . (or python setup.py develop) on a quickstarted project
and compare your sitepackages.

so I'll like to revise the decision. Back then the "pro index" arguments where
- unreleased packages
- maintaining a "well known set"
- pypi's instability

Are those still valid?

What is everyone's opinion on this? and more importantly are the ones
in favor of the index up for the task of maintaining it?
