I've recently updated a complex project from TG 1.0 to TG 1.1 and it
worked without any larger changes. I did not even bother to convert the
Kid templates to Genshi. Porting to TG2 would have been a large effort -
the project uses many TG1 features (Kid, TG widgets, identity with
custom provider, pagination, SA session mapper, scheduler, error catcher
etc.) which all need more or less substantial adaptation to TG2. Of
course it's possible, but it's time consuming and a source for new bugs,
since some things behave slightly different (error handler etc.). So TG
1.1 is really useful. We should also keep the option of releasing TG 1.5
to extend the lifespan of TG1 apps even longer. This allows us to work
on new projects instead of being kept busy migrating old projects.
