We're self-hosting Trac, a MoinMoin Wiki, and a bunch of stuff, and we've
had some issues with uptime and spam in the past. And now there is a "forge"
written in TurboGears, which provides a solid set of tools we can use:

* tracker,
* wiki,
* forums/mailing lists,
* Mercurial+Git+Svn hosting

We also have plans to add a blog and hopefully RSS aggregation, and IRC bot
logging. I'm very interested in moving our TurboGears repositories onto the
same system as the Tracker so we can get trac-like cross linking back. The
new tools are part of the new Sourceforge.net beta, and will eventually come
to replace all of the existing sourceforge projects. So, what I'm
proposing is that TG itself start using this beta.

Since Rick Copeland and I are on the sf.net beta team, we can make sure that
we have the features and tools we need to make TG successful. And can at
the same time the TG community can help SF.net by becoming an early adopter
of these tools, and helping sf.net to prove that these tools are valuable to
real open source projects.

I'm not suggesting moving the TG.org website, and for the moment I'm not
suggesting moving the moin moin wiki. But I would like to immediately move
active 2.0 tickets into the new sf.net tracker, along with trac pages, and
to move the "canonical" 2.x mercurial repositories from bitbucket to
sourceforge.net.

If you'd like to get a feel for what the tools on sf.net beta look like you
can visit:

https://sourceforge.net/p/turbogears/home/

A couple things worth noting about the new sf.net beta:

* We can have subprojects for things like tg.devtools.
* We can have multiple trackers and multiple repositories,
* We can keep 2.x and 1.x development together on the same site, but give
them room to have their own tools

Let me know if you have any concerns about this, but I think it'll be good
publicity both for TG itself, and good for sf.net so I'm pretty sure both
sides will put in the necessary work we need to do to make this awesome.
