I did actually have the documentation portion of the site split out between release version and development version earlier. The problem was that documentation updates needed to be made in both places (for corrections and amplifications). So, I brought them back together and started labeling the parts that are specific to the forthcoming release.
I figured that this would provide everyone with the most up-to-date docs *and* give a preview of coming attractions. Jared Kuolt has been looking at doc organization lately, and Swaroop has also been helping out. Hopefully, the docs won't continue to be overwhelming for long...
