FYI, I've opened ticket 196 to implement this solution. It's a small
enough task that I've targeted it for 0.9.

Why not just set the cache headers correctly instead?

I've never managed to get consistent behavior from IE on anything else than IIS  when using cache headers. A random URL works every time.
Further more it seems that caching, or the control of caching, requires HTTP 1.1, that is - if I read this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q234067/ document correctly.
Cherrypy is HTTP 1.0 (AFAIK)
