| Although it's more work, I'd definitely favour option #1. It just *feels* like the right answer. Especially because of the multiple connections issue. I can easily envision the existence of other packages which contain their own hubs, and if each hub opens a new connection, that'll play merry hell with packages like Oracle (which were licensed by the connection back when I was using it).
