I have visit.on = False in my config file, but it seems that now I have a thread doing stuff in the background. If nothing else it keeps writing these messages:
    2006-01-08 22:04:37,708 turbogears.visit DEBUG sending updates...
    2006-01-08 22:05:07,709 turbogears.visit DEBUG sending updates...
    2006-01-08 22:05:37,710 turbogears.visit DEBUG sending updates...
    2006-01-08 22:06:07,711 turbogears.visit DEBUG sending updates...
    2006-01-08 22:06:37,712 turbogears.visit DEBUG sending updates...
    2006-01-08 22:07:07,714 turbogears.visit DEBUG sending updates...
    2006-01-08 22:07:37,715 turbogears.visit DEBUG sending updates...

Nope I was wrong, it is still doing database work. And when shutting down I get this error message:
Fatal Python error: XXX block stack underflow

Removing the VisitorFilter from turbogears/startup.py fixes all of the issues.
