Mike, I've just upgraded to r608 from r517 and nothing has broken (yet) for me. I'd try installing the latest revision first to see if that helps. Other than that, I usually try the following when I get an error at DreamHost:
1) Kill all processes and reload the site 2) Reinstall the problem component (go to the thirdparty directory for CherryPy and run "easy_install .") Let me know if you discover more information about your issue. Sean
