Great, I'm looking forward to part 2. The current docs about sorting in datagrid are not clear for me the moment. I'm also thinking about using some JS filtering and sorting, maybe that's also interesting for you (http://kryogenix.org/code/browser/sorttable/ and http://leparlement.org/filterTable).
