As I mentioned to Mark, I got roughly nowhere with Apress, so I'm turning the chapters I have into tutorials to put up on Trac. Some of them are badly outdated (as in pre-0.9), so they'll take some work. I hope to have the identity one up next. It covers the three main cases: using the default classes, using custom classes, and using an external auth/auth source. Identity fell "late" in the book (after the "core" chapters), so it also covers creating an AJAX-ified "register" page, but I'm splitting that out into its own tutorial.
