It would be pretty interesting to have this as a widget or yet another decorator in turbogears (yadit?) Regardless it would be nice for things like document collaboration in a CMS. I think one of the other summer of code suggestions is a project to make turbogears widgets more or less platform independent so other projects could incorporate them. This would turn it into a contribution to the python community as a whole, if that actually gets done.
I'm not sure that per-page chat rooms are going to always be useful. For more popular pages it obviously could work, but I would guess that per-site would be a better choice in that respect. Private chats would help out a lot towards document editing collaboration. That is really where I see this becoming the most useful. Multi-person document authoring is hard enough when you can communicate in real time, not being able to makes it a lot worse. If you could put this kind of chat together with a multi-user markup editing box you could make a CMS that quite companies would kill for. The ability to edit a shared document in real time with a provided means of communication on the same page would be awesome. So, yeah, I say go for it. Make sure to be specific about what you want to accomplish. There is a page on the wiki giving suggestions on how to write a decent proposal, take all of them and shoot for overkill. From what I heard last year a lot of the proposals were considered pretty weak in that people submitted a rather brief single page document and expected a 4k grant out of it. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TurboGears" group.
