Hi, The reason BlueHost is there is that they allow Rails apps and deploying Rails can be very similar to deploying TG. We have many ways to deploy TG, including those used by Rails.
I actually approached BlueHost at one point about specifically offering TG, but never heard back. The message from their support person is wrong. You don't need to be root to use TG. (turbogears.org's own TG instance isn't running as root!) In order to run TG, you have to be able to do one of these: 1) run TG standalone and proxy from apache or lighttpd to it 2) run TG via FastCGI or SCGI 3) run TG behind mod_python If none of those is possible, then TG won't work. (If TG won't work at BlueHost, I'll remove them from the list.) WebFaction remains the most knowledgeable about TG, and therefore the easiest place to get it running. WestHost gives you a VPS, so there you *do* have root.
