Ben, i completely agree with you on multiple points. The SQLObject documentation (especially the SQLBuilder documentation) is not as complete as i've often needed it to be, although i've been able to find most of what i need to know here.
I also agree that TG's lack of migration support is a serious flaw, in my opinion the only real weakness of the framework. I would like to be able to write brief, legible migration scripts in Python and have TG handle any SQL re-writing behind the scenes. Unfortunately, i don't have the time or experience to take this on; hopefully someone will get sufficiently annoyed to commit some time to it.
