As Karl pointed out, the list of dependancies is listed in /turbogears/TurboGears.egg-info/requires.txt

For the packages that have been converted to eggs, have they been patched in any other way, or can we safely use the original upstream source?
No, they've not been patched in any way. We simply keep an egg built for various platforms to make sure that we have a copy should any of the required packages suddenly dissapear off the face of the internet and so that people don't *have* to build eggs themselves that may require compilers. As long as the packages of the correct version are installed and available in the python path there shouldn't be a problem with installing them via a package manager. That's all setuptools is essentially doing - acting as a package manager and resolving dependancies.
