As Karl pointed out, the list of dependancies is listed in
/turbogears/TurboGears.egg-info/requires.txt

No, they've not been patched in any way.  We simply keep an egg built
for various platforms to make sure that we have a copy should any of
the required packages suddenly dissapear off the face of the internet
and so that people don't *have* to build eggs themselves that may
require compilers.

As long as the packages of the correct version are installed and
available in the python path there shouldn't be a problem with
installing them via a package manager.  That's all setuptools is
essentially doing - acting as a package manager and resolving
dependancies.
