Sorry to cast a somewhat negative note on the proposal, but : To properly DESIGN and then IMPLEMENT this in a way that will be useful to the project is, I would guess, a non-trivial exercise. It's more than just a coding exercise.
I recognise that people are of course free to work on whatever than want (or on nothing at all), but it seems to me that TG as a whole has higher priorities that the tagging system (useful though that may be). Is there somewhere else to which this enthusiasm and energy can be better directed? I'm just a little concerned that if we rush off and build the list tagging system, we'll end up with another half-complete project.
