SQLAlchemy support was added to the paginate decorator in the 1.0 branch [1].
Although it looks like the changes made it into 1.0.1 also. I'm running the 1.0 branch using @paginate and PaginateDataGrid with SQLAlchemy and it all works fine. You just have to remember to use the SelectResultsExt extension to SQLAlchemy when assigning your mappers.
