Rewriting you widget usage so you don't instanciate them each time you need one will surely gain something... Do you use i18n filters to translate your pages ? If so make sure you have TurboKid (if using Kid templates) 1.0.1 (latest released for TG 1.0.2.2) because the earlier versions had a nasty bug that could rapidly make your site to crawl down...
