The direction the TG project will probably take is directly opposite: swap out non-integral parts and make them independent projects. Candidates are: widgets, identity providers, feed controller, the toolbox, and so on... Experience has taught us that many contributed projects that had been taken into the core distribution of TG were subsequently abandoned by their original authors without somebody else stepping up to maintain them. In this light, it's better not give the impression that these projects are maintained by the TurboGears developers, who might not have the time, knowledge or inclination for it. If said projects are important and and needed by someone, someone will be found who wants to maintain them.
