Though it doesn't seem very crippled to me. Then again I use a lot of plugins.
I wish I were capable with emacs, but it looks unforgiving for those new to it. I haven't tried Kate beKause I don't liKe KDE ;-) Though I am interested to hear how Kate works on gnome, and specifically what might be better in Kate than gedit.
