Porting TG2 to Jython certainly is interesting. The main challenge I guess is adapting the packages that contain binary extensions. I wouldn't consider SQLAlchemy as important because one of the reasons behind using Jython certainly would be to work with TG2 against an EJB or similar backend. I guess because of the upcoming releases of TG2 and PyCon sprints, Mark & co have limited time right now. Maybe you have more luck contacting one of the mentors mentioned here that are listed under the Porting-to-Jython-idea: http://docs.turbogears.org/GSoC/Ideas2009 I guess you can apply regardless of an immediate answer though, and will get mentoring once you are accpted.
