There's been a bit of discussion on the list, and I want to re-assure
TG 1.x users that they are not being abandoned. We intend to support
1.x long term, and if you're willing to help out 1.x can continue to
be maintained and improved as long as you want.

TG2 is not backwards compatable with 1.x in many ways, we've tried to
keep the same API's for the core TG stuff most of the time, but
updating 10% of a half million lines of code could still be a major
undertaking. And many of us continue to maintain 1.x applications
ourselves, which is just to say we're all still invested in 1.x
continuing to live and thrive.

TG2 does not support Kid or SQLObject at this time, but we'd be more
than happy to help anybody who has kid/SQLObject code and wants to
migrate to tg2 whithout having to rewrite that stuff. Kid support
could probably be added by an interested party in a couple hours if
they knew where to start, and SQLObject support might take more than
that if you wanted to tie it in to the transactin manager and
everything. But even SO support should be a reasonable task for a
single person to do in a couple of days, and both would be gladly
rolled into TG2 if somebody needs them.

I have been using Genshi and SQLAlchemy for all my TG1 applications
for a couple of years now, so that person isn't likely to be me, but
I'm likely to be a great cheerleader and supporter of someone willing
to help ;)
