The number #1 reason for me to use Eclipse (=> pydev) is a feature that is goes unmentioned most of the times unfortunately.

It's the "local history" -> every time I save a file, Eclipse stores a copy automatically. Since I use that feature I never lost a single edit. Even if I screw up (e.g. even something nasty as doing 'rm' on the wrong file and detecting it only a couple of hours later), nothing is lost.

That feature saved me quite a few times.  :-)
