Another "hidden agenda" for keeping TG 1.x alive may be that we want TurboGears to survive for a long time, and also to move to Python 3.x in the long run. We don't know how well CherryPy and Pylons will be supported in the future, and when/if they move to Python 3.x. I hope that this will not be necessary, and this would less than ideal, but keepting TG 1.x alive allows us to go back to CherryPy in case of need.
