Hi, I used to deploy thru Apache+mod_wsgi but I read a lot of staments in LinkedIn in favour of NGINX + gunicorn, o +fapws3. NGINX is better (faster and lighter) than Apache serving static files. I can't really say if gunicorn/fapws3/uwsgi are much better than mod_wsgi.
For me the most important thing is that you're able to separate different interpreters (with different settings and/or installed modules) in different apps. In theory that's possible with Apache but I never got it. Furthermore, if needed to run mod_python apps and brand new WSGI apps in the same server and I can't manage all with Apache.
