I was thinking wxWindow, too. But I always am thinking about wxWindow, since I'm very curious about it. :^)
I have never used wxWindows, but some of its design is good for
some people and for others its bad. wxWindows is a toolkit wrapper,
either it wraps the Win32 GUI Toolkit or GTK on Linux or on MacOS X
their toolkit. FLTK works on Win32, Linux and Mac OS X. It doesnt work
on BeOS directly, maybe using an X-Server. I will send a mail to the FLTK mailinglist asking about that. FLTK directly supports GetText for I18n.
Now, Torsten, are you suggesting that you know how to code FLTK? Because I think, esp. if it's portable to Mac OS X and BeOS, that it might be a good solution for Tux Paint Config, which I think is actually needed even more than a translated installer!
A config programm should be no problem. With FLTK it would work
with Win32, Linux, MacOS and MacOS X. We can also use some of TuxPaints
I18n Stuff to generate SDL Surfaces on the fly and put that Bitmaps on the Buttons to have native language buttons.
I'd like to release one at SOME point in 2004, so if we can start talking about it, that'd be awesome.
It would be a good idea if you can make some kind of GUI design for the
programm either using the GIMP or any GUI Designer. For example design your Programm with Glade and then upload the screenshots anywhere.
This way the programm looks exactly the way you want. Not really exactly, because GTK buttons and FLTK buttons look a little bit different, but the design will be the same.
