The Bill Kendrick in me says "Noooo!" I always hated apps that default to
full screen.

Of course, there are a couple of specific reasons:

  1. Sometimes my accellerated 3D wasn't set up, so it takes about 5 minutes
to navigate to the 'Quit' button (at 1fps)

  2. Sometimes my Voodoo card or driver is a little flakey, and any
screen resolution change crashes my X server. Bye-bye, all the other
apps I was using at the time. >:^(

  3. When a fullscreen app crashes, X often gets 'stuck' in whatever
screen resolution the app was running in (e.g., 640x480).
(I typically do "defendguin --fullscreen" and then hit [Esc] to quit,
and that puts me back into a state where I can Ctrl+Alt+Plus/Minus to
get back to my full res.)

So maybe it's just me. ;^)

On the other hand, this is a kid's program, specifically meant for the
tiny tots. And "how do I turn on full screen" and "you should have a
full screen option" are some of the Frequently Asked Questions I get.
(Usually with "oh, nevermind, I found it", later on :^) )

I think, though, the FAQ'ness of fullscreen will go away once tuxpaint-config
is finished and people are using it.

So, I dunno. :^/ I guess I'll wait and see what others here say about it.

How's THAT for a non-answer!? ;^)
