I can't think of any specific reason to object, but still it doesn't sit
well with me.  I guess I don't yet trust fullscreen mode to do the right 
thing on all systems.  When fullscreen messes you up, it's pretty hard to 
get back to a working X session (in the past, I've had to ctrl-alt-bksp to 
bail).  Granted, I haven't had that kind of problem recently, but I'm not 
entirely certain there are not systems out there on which fullscreen would 
be a bad default.
