I just got my copy of the latest Children's Software & New Media Revue,
and in the 'News' section, it mentions:

Coming Soon - Two New Versions of Kid Pix 4
Riverdeep has confirmed that Kid Pix has been upgraded, and will be
released over the summer in both home and school formats, with schools
being the primary audience. Kid Pix Deluxe 4 will contain the same
art tools and graphics handling capability of Kid Pix Deluxe 3.
Riverdeep promises "design simplicity, ease-of-use and Spanish language
support" along with a "powerful new set of teacher and student tools."
But the biggest news is that Kid Pix Deluxe 4 will be both Max OSX Native
and Windows XP/2000 compatible. Watch for a review in the next issue.

Just thought I'd mention it, since:
(1) Kid Pix is what many people have compared Tux Paint to (though
it was never meant to compete with Kid Pix, I guess it is the closest
thing out there to Tux Paint... *shrug*),
(2) I'm amused that, while we're up to ~40 supported languages,
they've got Spanish (*snicker*) ;^),
and (3) lack of OSX support in the previous Kid Pix version was
apparently one of the reasons many Mac users have been interested in
Tux Paint! (e.g., Apple tech reps on educational mailing lists would
recommend Tux Paint when folks asked why Kid Pix didn't run on OSX ;^) )
So I guess we've got 'competition' coming in the next few months! ;^)
-bill!
