I expected him to bring up Ayers and ACORN - even though all of the polls show these attacks don't work or even hurt him. The Republican hardcore is demanding blood. But I am surprised that he went for the Full Monty on ACORN - the worst attack on democracy in this history of America? Yikes! That is going to make even McCain's friends at Fox News blush a little. More than anything else so far, that remark convinces me that McCain has just about given up hope. That is the equivalent of going for it on 4th and 15 from your own 40 with 10 minutes left on the clock.
