SNL managed her a lot better than the McCain campaign, but probably because she 
had nothing to do.  She played it straight, and said little.  The one joke they 
gave her arguably bombed because it's probably true.  But why the hell did they 
avoid having her and Tina stand together?
Those who used the DVR for the show probably over prepared.  She's in the cold 
open, unironically not answering questions.

I think this dud of a sketch (neither funny nor unfunny, at least where Palin 
was concerned) was telegraphed when it wasn't being promoted in the Thursday 
update.

She also sits in toward the end of Update, and again, she's okay, the 
material's kind of funny,  and she manages to come off a good sport.
