FWIW, in preparation for February, Dish Network recently installed new digital receivers at their receive point in my market (Cadillac/Traverse City MI); for the past week or so, every time I've looked at something on the local NBC affil, it's looked different. One night, the 16x9 Nightly News was squished down to 4x3, so it looked like Cinemascope credits; the next night, the local programming which was supposed to be in 4x3 was stretched to 16x9, *then* center cut. (Thus, going into Final Jeopardy, the contestant in the middle had $17,000, while the champion was in the lead with ,400." And after all that, it's still not right--they're still stretched a bit and chopping off left and right sides of the 4x3 shows, but SNL was letterboxed tonight. Perhaps DirecTV is going through the same growing pains in Washington? -- -- Ben Scripps [EMAIL PROTECTED] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Like TV only smarter.
