Following other Tribune-owned stations, CW affil WPIX in NY is
dropping the "CW11" branding and returning to its "11" logo from the
days before The WB and The CW by the end of the year:

The Trib company line all along has been that the CW audience and the
local news audience are not one and the same and that a "CW____"
branding is not that beneficial to the news product, but there is a
strong feeling around that Sam Zell and Randy Michaels want out of CW
affiliation ASAP, despite the modest gains made by "90210" and "Gossip
Girl"--and the immense failure so far of the Sunday night prime time
brokering to Trib-backed Media Rights Capital has probably not made
Zell and Michaels well-loved figures in Dawn Ostroff's office.
