"24: Redemption" had its UK premiere last night on Rupert Murdoch's
digital channel Sky One, just one night after the U.S. airing on Fox,
and Sky had to think, especially with those new Virgin Cable viewers
online, that they would have the number one "multi-channel" show of
the evening (on the terrestrial nets, the current edition of Frickin'
"I'm a Celebrity--Get Me Out of Here!" on ITV had the dishonors)--
nope, the first airing of the penultimate episode of this season of
"Spooks (MI:5)" on BBC3 (right after the terrestrial airing of the
previous episode on BBC1) roundly beat Jack Bauer to a pulp--and Chloe
couldn't save him this time:

All season long, the Beeb's been running a new ep of "Spooks" on young-
demo-skewing Three after the previous episode airs on the One--it
seems not to have hurt terrestrial ratings any, especially since it's
sort of understood that Frickin' "I'm a Celeb" will do its annual
scorch-and-burn on the ratings. Also, I suspect that the "Spooks"
audience, for the most part, would have no interest in Frickin' "I'm a
Celeb."

BTW, BBCA is now running the current BBC1 ID package and a modified
version of the One's graphics package, the first time they've run a
British ID package since they signed on with the globe hot air balloon
BBC1 package in 1998. Since they do seamless on programs, the IDs run
in the approximately middle-of-the-half-hour break before the local
cable system spots and have a standardized voice-over with the slogan
"America's Fastest Growing Network"--they haven't done British-style
booth announcer voice-overs introing shows over IDs since the early
days, when Trish Bertram voice-tracked from London.
