On his NPR Sunday Puzzle segment/podcast.  Shortz said he was also an "ask an
expert" lifeline on Viera-era WWTBAM the first three days of this week. The
TiVo will record from WGN-local this afternoon.

The level of awesomeness this reaches is beyond my description.

Thanks, Jon.

that day's New York Times magazine crossword, which ran yesterday in
whichever newspapers take it in syndication. The final tournament puzzle (the
one seeded with Q's) doesn't exist outside of the show. Merl made the
grid per the specifications of the script, but as far as I know, he didn't
write clues for it. I'll confirm this with him sometime.

York Times. One of them was by Kevan Choset (PLAYITAGAINSAM, 4/25/06) and one by
Tyler Hinman (solved by Ilsa, 3/3/06). I think there was also a Bob Peoples
puzzle from 3/4/06, but I can't confirm it, having deleted the show already.
If anyone has screen caps of the puzzles used, I can supply additional
information.
