Because, when you think of supermodels, WalMart leaps almost immediately to mind.
> "Walmart's America's Next Top Model collection makes fashion accessible > to young women," said Liz Kalodner, Executive Vice President and General > Manager of CBS Consumer Products. "It enables women to explore a world > in which creativity and individuality are valued." I've had to endure a few episodes of this series, and neither creativity nor individuality are valued. The women's uniqueness gets buried under mountains of makeup, or it simply gets Photoshopped away (like when they used to airbrush out Cindy Crawford's beauty mark). The models get coached on walking and posing the same way. It is the homogenization of beauty, and it irritates me. -- Kevin M.
