More UK viewers wanted to know who was replacing David Tennant as the
Time Lord on the BBC1 doc "Doctor Who Confidential" Saturday night
then watch what is considered the biggest soccer match of the year,
the FA Cup, on ITV:

And to add insult to injury, after the announcement of Matt Smith as
the new Doctor, instead of switching to the FA Cup, viewers stuck
around to BBC1 for the premiere of the UK version of "Wipeout," hosted
by "Top Gear"'s Richard Hammond--in other words, Big Balls instead of
Big Match. (The show's called "Total Wipeout" in the UK, since the
last revival of the 80s Peter Tomarken game show "Wipeout" in the UK,
hosted by the late Bob Monkhouse, wasn't that many years ago--and ITV
co-owns that format with CBS Paramount.)

Meanwhile, last night the latest crime drama from "Prime Suspect"
creator Lydia LaPlante on ITV beat its competition of the latest BBC
nature unit doc "Swarm: Nature's Incredible Invasions" on the One and
"Celeb Big Brother" on Channel 4 (back after the racial controversy of
2007 and the failure of the "Celebrity Hijack" version last winter on
sister channel E4):

I suspect we'll see "Above Suspicion" this summer on "Masterpiece
Mystery."
