They have set timetables and budgeted for the deadline. Many have already made the switch. None of them will support two simultaneous transmissions unless the government kicks in money for such a dual venture (and since money is the issue, that won't happen). Which means, in all likelihood, the digital switch will occur on or about the original deadline, regardless of whether the government extends the deadline.
