A venture of three of the UK's four terrestrial broadcasters--the BBC
(through its for-profit arm BBC Worldwide), ITV and Channel 4--to
create a major programming streaming web site dubbed "Project
Kangaroo" has been scuttled under charges of unfair competition, which
leaves the Beeb as the only major full-length programming streamer in
the UK (and the UK only)--for now:

Hulu is only available in the U.S. right now, but the collapse of
"Project Kangaroo" (which didn't include RTL Group-owned Channel 5)
would seem to open the door for expansion into the UK and the rest of
Europe--co-owner News Corp. is co-owner of BSkyB, the country's only
major satellite service, and other owner NBC U owns several digital
channels, most notably the European versions of CNBC and SciFi. Jack
Donaghy looks forward to rotting the brains of England, Scotland,
Ireland and Wales for many years to come, no doubt.
