I hated a lot of things about this year's Oscar show, but none more than this. This was the unforgivable decision. The one montage I look forward to seeing every year, and they wouldn't let me actually see it. It might as well have been what plays on the displays at a sporting event. The stupid "here are some love stories released this year" montage plays full screen, but not the necrology. I wasn't wild about a vocal performance during the necrology, especially a live one, as I think it distracts from the closest thing to a solemn moment at these events. (They hired musical producers, and they got musicals.) But that's a minor quibble comparred to the freaking "crappy whooshy roller coaster swirling" camera work. And yeah, where was Don LaFontaine? And is it just me, or have they been putting in more executives the past few years (at the expense of actors or other people the public actually remembers)? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
